“Eliza Doolittle, played by Tracy Sallows, could easily be painted in flat, broad strokes more suited to the musical version. Thanks to Sallows' skill, this doesn’t happen. She brings a slightly dark quality to the “draggletail guttersnipe” who becomes a “duchess.” This quality, while difficult to pin down, makes Sallows’ Eliza a unique creation. Vocally, Sallows is interesting. She never falters in her management of accent and the transformation to a lady, once it is made, is broken only when she wishes. Her Eliza is full and lyrical, and she is a well chosen match for Jansen (Higgins). Where the Cinderella plot might have become too sweet, Shaw and Sallows instead bring Eliza through a crisis of class and self to a point of strength and equality.” --Cynthia Smith, The Transcript
